Geofabrics extensive knowledge & experience of supplying geosynthetic solutions for inland waterway & coastal erosion applications has now been extended into Tasmania with the recent successful installation of an ELCOROCK(r) sand filled container revetment wall along its northern coastline.
Partnering with GeoTas Pty Ltd (our long term Tasmanian distributor), Geofabrics were able to provide full support through all stages of the project from early concept thought to a successful installation.
The erosion protection structure built in Tasmania was a revetment protection wall (100m long and 3m high) located along a tidal river course and adjacent to existing private residences. The 0.75m3 robust ELCOROCK(r) geotextile containers were filled with locally available sand, providing a sustainable & highly durable & long-term solution.
The meandering tidal river at the site has experienced increasing erosion of the bank, with erosive forces continuously cutting into the river bank.  This had the potential of undermining the local properties and disrupting local services of power and sewage supply.
Geofabrics efficiently responded to a client's request to provide a solution to the erosion problem by providing concept design advice, supplying products and installation equipment and by being present on-site for training & advice during installation. This total service & support was well received by all project stakeholders and ensured that the project was completed on-time and within budget, and to the highest quality.
Geofabrics is proud of its commitment to service all parts of Australia with our locally manufactured geosynthetic products.  With the success of this first project in Tasmania, we are looking forward to working more closely with the people of Tasmania to help resolve their inland waterway & coastal erosion problems.
