The Australian Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society is proud to host a series of seminars by Dr J.P Giroud - “the Father of Geosynthetics”.
A series of 1-day seminars will be held nationally on ‘Geosynthetic Filtration & Failures’.  Dr J.P Giroud is the principal speaker, supported by Australian experts.
The seminars will be held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
The seminar will cover two aspects of geosynthetics:
1.       Filtration is one of the fundamental functions of geosynthetics - but the least understood.  A proper understanding of design methods will help the design engineer prevent clogging of the geotextile or piping of soils in dam design, revetments, sub-surface drainage etc.
2.       Learning from geosynthetic failures is a powerful learning experience - and Dr J.P Giroud will speak about the lessons learned from the failures in four areas of geosynthetics.
The seminars objectives are aimed at providing the design professional an overview of the key aspects to consider when designing with geosynthetics.
The seminar accounts for 4.5 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accreditation.
